Yes, it’s true. But you certainly didn’t hear about this through the liberal media- they’d rather brag about the democratic landslide in California, and of course the re-election of President Obama. Unfortunately for Obama however, there will be a lot more opposition this go-around. The 112th Congress was the most pro-life Congress in history. But the 113th Congress (starting Jan. 2013) is even more pro-life!
By officially recognizing the personhood of unborn children, both H.R. 374 by Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA), and S. 91 by Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) are designed to assure equal protection under law for each born and pre-born human in the United States. The bill has reached an all-time number of co-sponsors in both Houses of Congress. If passed, it will overturn Roe v Wade by legislatively defining life.
Despite the apparent Democratic tidal wave, the most divisive issue of our time finally has a fighting chance. Of course, we still have Harry Reid, probably the most corrupt obstructionist in history as Senate Majority Leader. (Will the people of Nevada ever wake up to Harry Reid’s dirty laundry?) And of course Obama will have veto power, and we all know where he stands- the most radical pro-abortion president we’ve ever had- supporting federal funding of abortions, and the right to kill babies even after they are born.
The National Pro-Life Alliance passed out a questionnaire, through its 2.4 million members to every Senator and Representative, and rated them on pro-life issues. (Of course they didn’t all return their answers, and some that did disagreed with it.) NPLA members played important roles in defeating five pro-abortion incumbents and winning new pledged Senators in Nebraska and Texas. Equally important, was the election of strong new pro-life leaders to Congress like Steve Stockman of Texas and Thomas Massie of Kentucky.
The only three winning candidates who did not sign their pledge were Congressman Frank Guinta (R-NH), Congressman Scott Tipton (RCO), and Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL).
Obviously, this is still an uphill battle. But this election brings at least some hope to saving lives of unborn children.
